Alternatives for T8 twin fluorescent tube lighting

It’s estimated that up to 75% of SME premises use fluorescent of lighting[1].

The most commonly used are the recessed troffers that contain twin T8 (36W) tubes (the ‘T’ tells you that the light is tubular and the 8 tells you the lamp is 8 × 1 diameter or 26mm).

When it comes to installing these alternatives, talk to your EcoSmart Electrician, local electrician or lighting store about what you can do yourself and what needs to be professionally installed.

Kids Stuff Toy Shop, NSW

A lighting upgrade at a toy shop in Balmain will pay for itself in only nine months. The toy shop replaced their 50W halogen downlights with a 7W LED light that uses 85% less energy.[2] They also replaced their 36W T8 fluorescent tubes with 25W T5 adapter kits which use 30% less energy. A government grant covered half of the cost and a total of 54 lights were upgraded.
